Description
Whilst this piece takes its influence from the natural splendour of the canyons of Utah, a space we rarely associate with the glamour of night-time entertainment or cocktail bars, the design of this piece is discreetly powerful. Opting to take influence from the organic and soothing forms of the canyons, as opposed to their materiality this piece exudes a sensual and moving power that is as natural as it is shining in its own midcentury elegance.
The base of this piece is formed from a variety of polished tubes of copper that rhythmically wrap around one another and interlock in a dazzling play of lines and light – much like the visual play of the canyons. However, the metallic materiality imbues this piece with a modern take on this naturally occurring form, therefore simultaneously offering soothing natural presence as well as a sleek modernist feel. Confidently resting atop this expressive base, the enclosed and sensuous seat offers contrast to the metallic structure with its exquisitely upholstered velvet surfaces that offer rest to both the eyes and to the touch. Not only is the pleasure of this velvet a sensuous experience though, it also appeals to our sense of the lineage of classical luxury and exudes midcentury eloquence.
