Description
Patagonia, the most southernly point of the great continent of South America is a region of magnificent natural splendour. Famous for some of the most beautiful caves in world, most notable of the marble variety, the area is a luxurious landscape where marble has been slowly shaped by the waves of the ocean over thousands of years. The Pino rug employs a truly unique and visually awe-inspiring form to resemble the peculiar yet elegant visual abstraction that is created by this natural anomaly.
Contrast is the order of the day with this piece and the result is nothing short of magical. The vast grey backdrop of this piece is adorned in an endless play of lines that resemble the great paintings of Picasso’s cubist years and Cy Twombly’s free-form sketches. Our eyes are guided around the surfaces in a seemingly endless dance as we follow each of these soothing curves to its allusive conclusion. The monochrome palette of the piece makes it a truly versatile and luxurious modern centrepiece as it is muted but moving in its bold simplicity. A sense of comfort and warmth not typically associated with cold, collected modernism is also introduced through the extremely soft and almost silk-like viscose made from bamboo that is hand-tufted upon the surface of this piece.
