Description
One of the most magical structures on the planet, the monolithic statues of Chile’s Easter Island are known as the Moai or the Naoki, fascinate the human imagination due to their natural craft and their ancient presence. Taking their inspiration from this world wonder, the designers of the Nairobi stool create a memorable and subtle stool that is defined by its organic forms and its luxurious materials, offering itself as a dynamic addition to any modern living space.
The base of the piece is crafted into four legs in naturally fluid forms that visually resemble the heads of the Moai, the Great Heads or the Naoki, as they appear to rise out of the ground organically reaching up to the sky. The glossy black lacquered finish of these legs give them a magical exterior that plays off any available light in the room and materially emphasises the smoothness of their edges. Housed within this uniquely natural structure, the designers then utilise a minimal form for the cushion that makes up this contemporary stool to marvellous effect. A gentle rounded structure that is upholstered in a luxurious velvet provides a gentle serenity that we associate with the natural world and the vast majesty of history.
