How is it possible that three seemingly simple elements can create so much? It might be a cliché to say that something is more than the sum of its parts, but cliché’s come about for a reason. And in this case, the reason seems to be the pursuit of perfection through the economy of design. But that is where the economy ends. Because despite it’s humble intentions console is as extravagant as any piece. With a nod towards Swedish design this console achieves its effect through precision and by capitalising on every element in its arsenal.
The main section of the table top is clean ad flawless and progresses from left to right with no awareness of what lays ahead. Eventually it meets its match as it is consumed by the royal green glossy rock mass. A fluctuation in structure frozen in time. Each different angel reflects a different element of the colours. This rocky growth at once consumes and supports the rest of the table, providing a bulky warped set of legs to prop up the right hand side. Only a console as luxurious as this one can afford to dispense with a quarter of its table top space in order to provide the rocky flourish that bookends this piece. The other set of legs is formed from a tubular framework of polished brass lending tis piece the sophistication it needs to ease its way into most rooms.
