There is no natural site of wonder that challenges and inspires the mind quite like Mount Kilimanjaro. As well as being the highest mountain in the world, the dominant volcano in Tanzania has three major volcanic cones; Kibo, Mawenzi and Shiwa. The Keemu rug utilises the spiritual power that the mountain evokes. Poignantly, however, it resembles it through a pensive mix of minimalism and cool colours that represent the snow-covered summit of this magical place.
Firstly, the size of this rug sets it up as a magnificent centrepiece for any large and bright living space as it announces itself into a room with its sprawling form. Upon this large canvas the designers are all too aware of the power of negative space as a blue-speckled white occupies the majority of the visual field and is delicately adorned with small blue archipelagos. These varied and comforting blue tones evoke a sense of the mountain range from a birds-eye view as they take on organic shapes. The hand-tufted bamboo that forms the ultra-thin viscose, extremely soft, almost silk-like surfaces of the rug then add a textural feel and comfort to the piece that makes it as much of a tactile spectacle as it is a visual one.
