Description
The natural world is, and always has been, at the centre of our fascination. Alluring in its textures, materials and colours, nature is the original artist. The Harriett chest is not here to dispute that fact, but it is here to take its lead from nature in creating a luxurious piece of furniture fit for a modern household. This playful and imaginative piece looks to the past as its guide, but maintains an eye firmly that is unmistakably held on the future.
Just as the natural world offers up materials that astound us, the Harriett chest of drawers offers up an abundant of delightful surfaces for the eyes to play upon. So let’s start with the drawers themselves. Composed in varying sizes of bird’s eye veneer, elm burl veneer, an ironwood veneer mosaic, walnut wood veneer and maple root veneer, the end result of this piece is nothing short of a breath taking landscape. The high gloss varnish that finishes these materials not only draws the eye but also allows this piece to add to the already existing light in the room. Then wrapping round these drawers, delicately holding them aloft are five delightfully minimal polished brass beams, adding luxurious lines to this brilliantly organic piece.
