The chest of drawers is a necessary and therefore central concern for the interior design of a bedroom. A classic answer to the question of storage, it occupies a space in almost all bedrooms and is a site of glamour for many. The designers of the Matteo tall chest of drawers are clearly all too aware of this fact and revel in the challenge of creating a piece that is as practical as it is aesthetically expressive.
This seven-drawer unit is built predominantly from a strong, sturdy and texturally deep wooden structure. The vertical and natural grain of the wood paints organic lines for the eyes to freely follow up and down its large presence. The seven drawers that occupy the central exterior of the piece are finished with a wonderfully soft and muted leather that contrasts with the sleek wooden frame, emphasising the unique textures of each material. The woven leather handles bring the tactile quality of the leather directly into the contact with our sense of touch and reveals the interior of the drawers, finished with same wood and leather. The table top of the piece, in the name of continuity, is softly rounded off with the same leather finish giving this piece a sense of harmonious balance.
