Description
Where do we begin with the Maison bookcase. Well there’ a lot of ground to cover. About two and a half meters of it in fact. The Maison is a showcasing of the value that sits at the intersection of frivolity and sophistication. The framework is large and complex stretching upwards and outwards making use of sleek clean lines of black lacquered metalwork. The pipes all reach directly upwards towards the ceiling and are capped on both ends by polished brass tips, casting a golden glow onto their surroundings. The poles are intersected by platforms of luxurious flawless lacquered wood, providing ample room for storage, because I think it’s fair to say that a piece of this size demands an offering of practicality as well.
A pop of colour is offered up by the polished brass storage units, which give a knowing nod to the simplistic beauty of modern Scandinavian design. The central addition features two separate cupboards and the two outer ones play host to four easy sliding drawers. What the Maison takes up in space, it more than makes up for in practicality and charm. The design is simply beautiful, and despite its relatively large dimensions, the majority of the space it take sup is actually left purposely empty, so that it will not dominate the space you choose to put it in.
