Description
Rejecting tradition is the central defining feature of modern interior design. Not to say that it entirely does away with influence, but that it is constantly reshaping how we interpret forms and materials. The Reva bed side table, in this sense, is a quintessential example of contemporary design as it finds new means of expressing what we have come to associate with certain pieces of furniture. A brilliant modern take on a staple feature of the bedroom, it is an inspiring addition to any modern living space.
The exterior of the Reva bedside table is formed by one sleek and assured curve structure formed of wood that gives it an undeniable sense of structural integrity. Upholstered almost entirely in fabric or leather with a matelassé finish, the structural boldness of this piece is treated with a contrasting material softness that is delightful to the eyes and to the touch. A central strip of metal adorns the centre of this piece and guides the eyes around its gentle curvature. Two similarly finished metal handles reveal two drawers that are expertly crafted into the overall silhouette. The interior of these drawers are similarly finished with wood and leather in the name of continuity. Finishing with a miraculous flourish, the marble table top of this piece is surprisingly classical for such a contemporary piece, but is emphasised precisely due to this contrast in all of its material majesty.
