Description
The Pagen side table derives its power from its complete refusal to obey presupposed design ideals. Whilst technically seen as a side table, this piece of furniture honestly deserves its own categorization. Characterised by a rare, and original shape the power table presents a careful balance of stylish, sleek modern design, practicality, and luxury.
Formed from two pieces that appear at once separate and completely tied to one another, the piece presents an interesting question as to what actually comprises a table. The two pieces are identical in everything but size. The smaller of the two sits at a 90 degree angle to the other, whilst remaining perfectly cocooned within the embrace of its larger counterpart. One flat table top bends over the top of the other with enough space between to make both surfaces practical. The bottom halves curve around at the base with the larger coming to rest on top of the smaller. The two pieces are fastened in place through the inclusion of a large perfect marble plate, which, through its opposition completes the piece. The two arms of the table sides and top are carved from aged brass, finished with a translucent patina with a pattern of thin natural grains running its length.
