Description
This table is a tale of two halves. Two completely different stories being told through one beautiful attention grabbing vessel. The first story is one of simplicity. Large blocks of varnished wood that form a clear and bulky silhouette. The second story is one of hidden complexity. Artistic freedoms, and momentary flourishes that eventually draw your focus to the fact that this table is anything but ordinary. It was created in the image of a honey filled hive on a busy spring day. The legs are in many ways this tables signature feature. They are at once blocky, resolute, and yet through their seemingly random placement, whimsical too.
Perhaps it’s the variation in size, or the placement which values symmetry below everything else. But the handiwork of the base is not lost to the table top, in fact the hard work of the designer is highlighted here as it should be. The heads of these hexagonal pillars are traced into the table top, providing an image of the inner workings, whilst ensuring a perfect, flawless table top finish. The table top is made of a luxury deeply coloured walnut wood veneer with inlay marquetry and a glossy finish. The top details are completed with gold leaf and polished brass and this same variation in material is echoed on the legs which stand in a flourish of gold leaf and polished walnut.
