Description
The Badab-e Surt is a rare and naturally occurring masterpiece formed by pools of water gathering upon beds us rust-coloured earth. The colourful puddles that form atop each layer of rock at Iran’s geological wonder transforms the landscape and imbues with an array of expressive forms. Taking its cues from this visual spectacle of interacting, organic forms, the Babos rug brings an undulating and free flowing energy that is simultaneously comforting and energising to the eyes and to the touch.
The patterns that make up this rug in deep brown and off-white are liquid in their form and are painterly in their gestural capability. Formed of seemingly endless curves that appear to have no beginning or no end, the viewer is comforted by this sense of engaging in an ebb-and-flowing motion underneath their feet. Brilliantly hand-tufted in a soft wool, the density of this rug speaks to both its sense of luxury and the fact it is inspired by the beautiful density of this magical landscape. Warm to the touch and made to last, this piece stands assured as visual centrepiece in any living space without sacrificing the integral quality of its material functionality.
