Starting at the base, the piece deals in brute simplicity. The plain black, glossy, lacquered wood finish of the base creates a beautiful play of lines upon its outwardly simple silhouette. The piece reveals more depths upon closer inspection, and even more visual delights as the eyes travel up the piece. The use of the lighter copper leaf coated wood table top naturally draws the eyes upwards in a desire to travel from dark towards the lighter surface.
