Description
When it comes to modern design of the last fifty years, one of the overriding features of the aesthetic has always revolved around strong and minimal lines. These offer sensuous calm and assurance, whilst also drawing the attention to exquisite finishes and allowing the viewer to delight upon the details of the materials themselves. The Nanimo armchair exemplifies and almost exaggerates these principles of modern design to magical effect, making this piece a unique from through an emphasis on its simplicity.
Whilst offering a relatively traditional silhouette for a modern armchair, which is essentially the familiar structure we are accustomed to with the armchair but in bold, straight lines, this piece takes this a step further. The designers repeat this form in a modular fashion to create a layering of geometric forms, giving this piece a sense that it is rising into the room whilst also allowing for a playful twist on a typically modernist form. The wood finish of exterior of this piece benefits from this stark minimalism as the textures of the wood paints a series of soothing curves for the eyes to feast upon. Whilst this plays off the cotton velvet of the upholstering in a beautiful interplay of textures.
