However, it is also holds the place as the model or blueprint for future developments, primitive art is often a way of tracing our own story. It is precisely this duplicity that informs the Mazie sideboard. The piece moves between celebrating primitive arts unique differences and seeking to carry lessons learned from the past forward into a new future.
Exquisitely handcrafted by Portuguese artisans in a luxurious walnut wood, the centrepiece is immediately evocative through its hand-carved abstraction. The tactile nature of the design provides a sense of the earthly and material nature of its construction, giving it a classically unique touch. From here on out the design of this piece takes a classically modern turn. The stunning centrepiece is framed by a wonderfully curved lacquered wood with a high gloss finish, which through its minimalism acts to illuminate that central feature. However, this also makes the piece to stand out in a modern living space. The doors of the sideboard, which are expertly disguised within the design, do not sacrifice a single moment of luxury whilst providing great storage capabilities. Perfectly rounding off the piece through a beautiful expression of curvature are the feet of the piece, that are finished with a luxurious aged brushed brass – a final glimmer of luxury.
