To name a piece in the way that this one is named gives it a lot to live up to. It is no wonder that a piece called ‘Maisha” has taken its inspiration, with this in mind, from the design of the middle of the twentieth-century in order to achieve the presence such a title requires. An era of design epitomised by its boldness and its elegance, its influence provides the designers of this piece with a minimalist approach and an awareness of noble materials to what is truly stunning effect.
A piece of wonderfully symmetrical contrasts, the imposing white lacquered wood of the central cabinet immediately strikes the viewer as a beacon of clean design and of sleek minimalist presence. The wood of the majority of the piece contrasts texturally with the brushed brass frame that adorns the exterior doors of the piece, which as a result emphasises the shining glamour of the luscious metal. At its base, the piece then enters into another play of contrasts as the dark and deep material wealth of the solid wood legs, that are similar adorned with the same glimmering brushed brass. Knowing all too well that the devil is in the detail, the interior of the cabinet is finished with sleek glass and shining gold leaf to elevate the elegance of this piece further.
