Description
A writing desk has the difficult job of engaging the brain in contemplative, calm and yet creative thought. The designers of the Matteo writing desk, however, seem to revel in this central challenge in the design of this miraculous piece. Combining expressive gestures, a minimal form and brilliant materials, this piece exemplifies all the brilliant work that interior designers have done over the years to create unique and yet calming additions to the interior of a home.
The frame of this piece is minimal in its form, formed of two panelled legs of a sensuous and texturally wealthy wood. The vertical grain of this wood gently and organically guides the eyes up the piece towards the three central drawers, which through gentle contrast of colour and texture are highlighted in their leathery finish. Offering small but significantly soft spaces at the centre of this piece, these drawers offer themselves as a sensually calm solution to storage. The table top is then finished in the same wood as the frame, yet it is adorned with a leather section for housing books or laptops and small metallic storage compartments that can be hidden away upon its surface. These little storage sections can be made to house cables or a wireless charging area available upon request.
