This piece couples an uncompromising form with a muted sophistication in its design. As if the Ezme cabinet’s sheer bulk and resultant sense of regality and luxury wasn’t enough to draw the attention of everyone in the room, then its beautiful geometric shapes and subtle details surely will. Put simply it’s a monolith. A hulking giant of brutalist design, only deviating from its blocky structure to produce four protruding legs, cast from aged brass. Standing at an imposing one and a half meters tall this piece might be better considered a wardrobe than a side cabinet.
When it comes to storage, size goes hand in hand with practicality, but it’s not the practicality of the ezme cabinet that’s going to make you invest in it. It’s the effect. The sheer weight of this piece is somewhat muted and kept under control through the choice of material. A fumed Eucalyptus veneer, with dashes of white and swathes of light grey providing a natural unassuming finish. The face of the sideboard is only broken up by the framework of the cupboards and doors and the two rivers of polished brass that extend up the length of the piece from its legs which, despite their stature, somehow keep this piece standing while ensuring all attention is firmly focused above.
