Description
The word druzy, originating in the term druse, describes an amalgamated mass of small crystals and the glittering effect that they create over the top of a colourful mineral. As the lines of the crystals interact with the underlying colourful gemstone, it reveals new possibilities for light and for new surface interactions. The Dacki folding screen embodies this natural splendour with its enigmatic and beautifully varied design features, from their material variation to their expert execution.
A folding screen is a glamorous and extravagant addition to any room, creating a feature that is stunning in any modern living space. Organic and free-wheeling in its structure, the black lacquered wood frames with their high gloss varnish provide a perfect frame for the rest of the piece in their muted and minimal presence. Within this modernist form, the spectacular materials of this piece are allowed to shine brighter. The black, green, beige and yellow stripes formed of cotton velvet resemble the beautiful lines of the surface of a crystal, whilst also embodying a luscious surface for the eyes and hands to feast upon. The clear mirror and the polished brass tubes then provide a shining structure at the heart of this piece that catch the eyes and appeal to our sense of classical luxury.
