Description
The beauty of this piece is a true masterpiece. Its body is a cliff face, sturdy, resolute and seemingly carved from one giant hunk of limestone. Filling the entirety of its form with no deviations or reprieves from its bulky structure. But as the harshness of a cliff face is compromised by the rolling of the waves, the pattern that adorns this side board serves the same purpose. Delicate geometrical ripples cascade down the face of the sideboard barely covering the natural grain below.
Through this careful balancing of opposing ideas, this piece manages to at once capture both the strength and fragility of nature. The gorgeous patterned oak veneer is the center piece of this sideboard, and as such all the other elements are placed in a way as not to distract from the main event. Simple, thin brass piped handles protrude from the face, giving way to the three lines that break up the otherwise flawless face to provide the cupboards. You could almost forget that this piece has any practical intentions but one look inside reveals ample storage space and a variety of shelves, cupboards and drawers. The whole piece finds its footing with a contrasting aged brass podium, made up of one large flat plate, and two long running feet.
