It’s often that we see a piece that harkens back to a certain era. A table dressed with adornments that could only be drawn from the design work of the late 18th century, or a large brutalist contemporary writing desk. But it’s not so often that a piece makes such a leer attempt at linking itself to both a place and space in time. Everything from its blocky form, to its geometric shapes, to its suggested black and gold colour way screams Ancient Egypt. The table top is a large flawless rectangle of black lacquered wood. A thin line of gold leafed wrapped rectangles traverse the ridge of the table top providing a bright glow amidst the darkness. Below the table top is one large central pillar like leg. The leg is made of an assortment of shapes. Deep black cones as glossy as the able top. Sandwiches between them sits one large gold leaf wrapped sphere, and at the foot of the leg sits the large square base cut form the same lacquered wood.
