Description
If there is anything that minimalism has taught us, it is that gestures speak louder when they are free of distraction and we are allowed to focus upon their intricacies. The Brimnes table is just this, a simply focused and rigorously designed masterpiece of what it means to be singular. Through an acute awareness of materials and an abundance of technical prowess this piece is a light but achingly stunning piece of furniture.
The central focal point of this piece is the twist that lies at its very centre. Formed of thick cuts of sleek and shining glass, the solitary leg of this table twists in upon itself to form a central turn. Just like the pirouette of a ballet dancer, we are invited to revel in the splendour of this movement as the glass twists on itself to reveal new translucent forms and to dance amongst itself. Supported at the base by a glimmering circular structure that holds the piece firm, but with a bright and glowing presence. Resting in the balance atop this central gesture, is a similarly rounded glass table top that finishes the piece of with elegance and refuses to conceal the beautiful composition under its surface.
