The outward sophistication and palpable maturity of the Bridgette armchair betrays a fun playful heart, which we see come thorough in its design. The Bridgette would have you think it’s growing up gracefully with it’s soft corduroy style lining and easy oaken framework, but that’s only a mask. A mask to disguise and familiarize us with something that in reality is wholly new. The form of this armchair is breathtakingly simple yet totally innovative. The seat and the base almost operate as two separate entities, coming together for the greater good. For the sake of each other to create a perfectly balanced and confidently composed armchair that would honestly and faithfully compliment the widest range of interior designs.
The seat is cut to form one large padded structured that wraps itself around the back of the occupant easing their hands up on to the gently cascading arms which suddenly dip before shallowing off again and disappearing completely. The body is voluptuous and provides a comforting centre to a sofa, which from the outside appears to be all business. The arc of the front of the seat is deep and forgiving. The base, however, is here to hold all of this comfort and luxury and match it by way of strong bold lines and angular woodworking. Deep rich oak provides a wide plateau that wraps around each side and encroaches on the arms of the chair. The feet that bend away from central section all finish with a dipping of bronze patina.
