Gemstones have fascinated humankind for thousands of years as they appear as gifts from the natural world, full of depth, clarity and astounding beauty. The Amber gemstone, formed from the resin of ancient trees that fossilises, has always held a particularly esteemed spot within the imagination of many for its colour and its textural beauty. The Alisa console seeks to harness the astounding beauty of this organic occurrence and bring it into the world of modern contemporary design.
Immediately the viewer is drawn into the world of mystical beauty that we associate with precious gems with its feature base. The polished brass or copper legs are produced using old manufacturing techniques that allow the metal to emulate the textural mix of rough and smooth surfaces that we would typically associate with the natural world. On top of their magical surfaces, these expressive lines radiate from the centre of the piece and draw the eyes in towards the piece as a result. The tabletop that rests upon this lavish foundation is then formed of a luscious lacquered wood that is unquestionably modern and houses three ample drawers for a clean, subtle storage solution. Paying attention to detail when it comes to elegance, the interior of the drawers is then upholstered with a soft velvet.
